Donna Pinter graduated form the Pennsylvania Academy of
Fine Arts in 1974. During her years at the Academy she
received four special awards for her drawing. Those
awards foretold the swift success Pinter realized with
her painting. Over the last twenty some years, she has
participated in more than 30 group exhibitions and had
fourteen one-person shows in the United States and
Israel. She has won many awards for her work and several
grants.
Pinter has been featured in periodicals such as Southern
Homes, Peachtree Magazine, Arts Southwest Magazine and
Atlanta Magazine. She was interviewed on Japanese
television and on the National PM Magazine broadcast.
Collectors who have acquired Pinter's work through the
years include Chuck Mangione and the late Rudolph
Nureyev. Corporate acquisitions were made by HBO
Corporate Headquarters, Lord & Taylor (NY), RCA (NJ &
NY), McDonald's (Chicago), IBM (NC & FL), Marriott
Marquis, WPBA-TV, Peat Marwick Mitchell, and Cox
Communications (Atlanta). The Portland Museum of Art
(ME), the Woodmere Art Museum (PA), the New Jersey State
Museum, the Hunter Museum (TN) and the Albany Museum
(NY) have also purchased works for their permanent
collections.
In
the early 1990's, Pinter received commissions to design
the sets and/or costumes for several plays. She created
an original lithograph for Ballet Rotaru, which was used
to promote their Season. She was commissioned by "Dance
at the Met" for the Metropolitan Opera at
Lincoln
Center and "Nutcracker Ballet" in Boston.
Ever
growing into new areas, Pinter discovered clay. Excited
by the tactile aspects of the medium and the challenge
of painting on a new "canvas", she began focusing her
talents on ceramics. Today, she produces a complete
range of vessels including vases, dinnerware, and
accessories. Her ceramic endeavors have branched into
tile tables and custom tiles for the home, as well as
office and public spaces.
